Contour or Profile Gauges are an invaluable aid for copying curved shapes such as profiles of ceramic and architectural features.  

Steel needles conform to any shape they are pressed against. These instruments are well adapted to archaeological requirements and  the steel pins are very thin (0,75 mm) making it possible to create remarkably  precise  profiles.

These are quality gauges made in Japan.

150mm long with a 48mm depth.
