Laminated tarpaulin, waterproof & treated with a UV filter.

Roped edges with rust resistant metal grommets at 1 metre intervals.

A 1m wide trench, place the tarpaulin with the long edge against the trench section (c. 30cm back from edge) which will cope with a 3m long trench up to 1.25m deep, the longer the trench overlap the tarpaulins. This keeps the grass clean. and allows a good restoration of your excavation area.

A 2m wide trench, place the tarpaulin with the short edge against the trench section (c. 30cm back from edge) which will cope with a 2m long trench up to 1.25m deep, don't forget to overlap the tarpaulins.

Keep the spoilheap back from the edge of the trench for safety and to allow a clean edge for trench photography.

These may last two or three excavations if looked after, but shovelling backfill will tear them in time.
